Organic avocados are the perfect food because they are loaded with monounsaturated fats, antioxidants, potassium, and vitamin E. Avocados can reduce cholesterol levels, fight harmful free radicals, and help blood sugar levels. The avocado is not only good for one's health, but also taste great and can be used in many recipes.

Avocados are high in potassium which has been shown to control blood sugar levels. Most people think that the avocado is a vegetable when in fact it is a fruit. Like most fruits avocados provide health levels of fiber which helps improve digestion and speeds intestinal transit time.

Many people could use more fiber in their diet because fiber helps decrease intestinal transit time. In essence, this means that fiber helps keep the colon free of impaction which is normally referred to as constipation. People who have regular bowel movements are less prone to colon disease including colon cancer.

The avocado is high in vitamin E which helps keep skin smooth and free of wrinkles. Many people use the oil on their skin and hair as a natural cosmetic. This fruit is high in iron and helps to prevent anemia because it helps keep blood iron levels normal.

The great tasting avocado can be added to any type of salad to add a zesty flavor to an otherwise bland eating experience. The fruit can be added to the top of a burger in place of a slice of cheese as a healthier alternative. This versatile fruit is the main ingredient to guacamole dip which can be set out with chips when guests arrive.

It is easy to make guacamole. Slice up a tomato, onion, and mix in an avocado, for a great tasting dip that is much healthier than a cream based dip that is loaded with saturated fat. This fruit is ripe and ready to eat when the outer skin is soft to the touch. In order to remove the meat from the peel, slice the peel and extract the meat with a large spoon.
