The Salt Water Detox Could Help Cleanse The Body

by Catherine Diaz

A salt water flush can be recommended before starting a weight loss program so that the body can be detoxified. The concept is that one should clean whatever is in the intestines out before one gets started. The flush can certainly help with that, if nothing else.

The solution that you're going to drink is a simple one. You just add 1 to 2 teaspoons of sea salt to a quart of water. It will have to be sea salt, rather than table salt. It should be drunk at one time, though, and it doesn't taste great. Some people add lemon to make it easier to drink.

Most report that they experience the urgent need for the bathroom within a half hour to 60 minutes. This can continue for some time. For some, it will be longer than for others. It's advised, therefore, to stay close to a toilet for a while.

A lot of people have problems with their weight because they don't digest their food efficiently. When intestines don't work correctly, it is not possible to get the correct nutrition from the good that's eaten. Because of this, detoxifying and removing any built up fecal matter is believed to be important before weight loss programs.

There can be no guarantee, of course, that the cleansed bowels will work properly. However, it may be that once they are cleansed, by eating a sensible diet following this, they can begin to work more efficiently. A more efficient colon means that it will process food properly, it will absorb the nutrition from that food and will eliminate the waste. This can all be an aid to weight loss.

The salt water flush is an easy thing to do, but not necessarily gentle on the body. People who have health issues may want to discuss doing it with a doctor beforehand. Dehydration and electrolyte imbalance is possible so some recommend drinking plain water as well.
